BLUFFTON - Give them 20.
Each year Jay County baseball coach Lea Selvey begins hoping his team can reach a goal of 20 wins. For the first time since 2003, it has.
The Patriots rolled to their 20th victory of the year Monday, clobbering the host Bluffton Tigers 10-2. Just hours earlier, the team moved up two spots to No. 7 in this week's Indiana High School baseball Coaches Association poll.
Jay County (20-4) earned its milestone win in grand fashion after falling behind 1-0. It got home runs by Josh Ludy, his ninth of the season, Andy Hughes (fourth) and Michael Jobe (second), outscoring the Tigers 10-1 over the final five innings.
Ludy also had a double as he scored twice and drove in three runs. Josh Selvey had two hits and two runs, Tony McCowan and Casey Waters each had two hits and Jobe finished with a pair of RBIs.
Sophomore Trey Dunn also earned his first career victory as he went the distance and struck out six batters. He allowed two runs - one earned - on five hits and three walks.
Jay County moved up in the IHSBCA poll after rallying from a 10-0 deficit against West Vigo to win Saturday's Patriot Invitational. It earned 23 poll points, 13 more than eighth-ranked Mount Vernon (17-4) and four behind No. 6 South Bend St. Joseph's (19-5).
Of the Patriots' four losses, three came against teams which are, or have been, ranked. They fell to Class 3A No. 1 Norwell (25-0), Class 2A No. 6 Wapahani (20-5) and Elwood (19-6), which finished 14th in this week's Class 3A voting.

Ben Vance went wild from his leadoff spot in the order, going 3-for-4 with a double and five stolen bases. He also scored twice and drove in two runs.
Eric Homan, Nat Brown and Phil Powell all went 3-for-4 in the victory. Homan had three RBIs and two runs, Brown finished with two runs and two RBIs and Powell doubled twice. Mike Daniels also scored a pair of runs.
