Patriots win 4th in a row

MONROE - The Jay County High School boys swim team has turned the season around.

After dropping their first seven meets of the year, the Patriots have bounced back. They won their fourth straight meet Tuesday, 110-69 over the host Adams Central Flying Jets.

Junior Neal Fennig powered the Patriots as he was part of four victories, including a one-two finish in the 200-yard individual medley. He won easily in 2 minutes, 18.94 seconds, and Alex Sutton finished second.

Fennig also took the top spot by nearly eight seconds in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.35. He teamed with Aaron Hudson, Wiley Young and Luke Holcomb to take the top spot in the 200 medley relay in 1:52.75.

He also joined Caleb Hummel, Derek Hughes and Holcomb for a first-place time of 3:56.2 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Hudson was the only other Jay County swimmer to win multiple individual events.

The senior led a sweep of the 100 butterfly in 1:02.21 with Hughes second and Richard Osterholt third. He was also first with a time of 1:07.94 in the 100 breaststroke ahead of teammate Jared Valentine.

Valentine took the top spot in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.91 with Hummel in second place. Hummel added a victory in the 500 freestyle in 5:58.09 with Zach James as the runner-up.

Young was second in the 50 freestyle, and Holcomb took second in the 10 freestyle. Nathaniel Imel placed third in the 100 backstroke.[[In-content Ad]]
