Pennville winners announced
Taking Note
Pennville Elementary School recently held its annual Science Fair.
The champion in kindergarten was Makinsey Murphy with the project “Meltdown.” Her parents are Jason and Cindy Murphy.
The champion in first grade was Courtney Benter with the project “Don’t Cut My Whiskers.” Her parents are Scott and Brenda Benter.
The champion in second grade was McKenna Vore with the project “Exploding Toothpaste.” Her parents are Joe and Amy Vore.
Co-champions in third grade were Haley Corwin and Justice Murphy for “Telegraph” and “Live Bacteria in Yogurt” respectively. Haley’s parents are P.J. Corwin and Misty Thornburgh and Justice’s parents are Jason and Cindy Murphy.
The champion in fourth grade was Allison Jobe with the project “Snooze or Lose.” Her parents are Brian and Lisa Jobe.
The champion in fifth grade was Cheri Walter with the project “Does Your Blood Type Foretell Your Personality?” Her parents are Don and Laurel Walter.
Regional qualifiers were Haley Corwin, Justice Murphy, Allison Jobe, Ethan Andreshak, the son of Michael and Kerri Andreshak; Cheri Walter, Caleb Webster, the son of Aaron Webster and Nikki Ninde; and Calli Crosby, the daughter of Scott and Michelle Penrod and Kent Crosby.
Regional qualifiers will advance to the East Central Indiana Regional Science Fair on Saturday at Ball State University.
The winner of the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society Award, sponsored by Dunn Family Dental Care of Portland, was Caleb Webster.
Screening
Screening for next year’s kindergarten students at Fort Recovery Elementary will be held Monday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 6, from 8:30 to 3 p.m. A birth certificate, social security card and immunization record for the child should be brought to the screening. To schedule an appointment, call (419) 375-2768.
Wine tasting
Psi Iota Xi Sorority will host a Wine Tasting on Saturday, March 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Portland Lions Civic Center.
