The Jay County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for their 2012 annual awards for citizen of the year, business of the year, industry of the year, and lifetime achievement.

The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet, which will be held in early 2013.

Christmas open house
Fort Recovery’s Merchant’s Association will be having its Christmas open house today from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Many merchants will be open and residents have the chance to sign up to win a $1,000 Merchant’s Association prize. Events include crafts and story hour for children at the library from 1 to 2:30 p.m., ThienSnipps carolers walking the streets, horse and carriage rides in the town’s original taxi at the Visitors Center, and live pioneer demonstrations in the log cabin.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be strolling the streets and in their house from 12 to 4 p.m. and there will be a community Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m.
Verallia wins award
Verallia North America, which operates a plant at 524 E. Center St., Dunkirk, recently announced that it recently won Clear Choice Awards from the Glass Packaging Institute for three of its glass products.
The awards program recognizes achievements over the past year in creating innovative glass packages with shelf impact. Glass containers manufactured by Verallia won three of eight glass packing award categories — including beer, wind and distilled spirits.
The winners receive benefit from industry-wide recognition and brand-building promotion. The winning products were also on display at an industry trade show in Chicago.
Raymond James releases results
Raymond James Financial Inc. recently reported its annual and fourth quarter results.
It reported record annual net revenues for the fiscal year of 2012 of $3.8 billion and record annual net income of $295.9 million. The 2012 figures include six months of operations of Morgan Keegan, which was acquired April 2, 2012.
For the quarter, net revenues were $1.07 billion and net income was $83.3 million.[[In-content Ad]]
