A $300,000 expansion of a Portland restaurant and three homes with a combined value of $600,000 accounted for more than two-thirds of the more than $1.7 million in building permits issued by the Jay/Portland Building and Planning Department in May.
The total value of the projects approved by the department was $1,765,797.
The largest project issued a permit was an expansion/remodeling of Ponderosa Steakhouse, 1002 N. Meridian St., with a value of $300,000.
Also approved were permits for three homes with values of $175,000 or more.

Preferred Family Physicians of Jay County and Urgent Care Clinic recently received a 99 percent score during a recredentialing process conducted by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The office was reviewed for documentation, facility environment, laboratory, radiology, access to care and centers for Medicare and Medicaid offices.
To remain credentialed, offices must score 80 percent or higher.
