PMM makes acquisition (7/16/05)

Preferred Medical Management Inc. of Portland recently purchased an emergency department physician staffing company.
Dr. Stephen Myron, who owns PMM and is Jay County’s health officer, has announced the purchase of Indiana Emergency Services, P.C.
PMM also owns the Preferred Physicians West Jay Clinic in Dunkirk, and family practice offices in Portland, Hartford City and Anderson. It also provides emergency room staffing at Jay County Hospital in Portland.
Indiana Emergency Services owner Dr. Brooks Crofoot established the company in 1991. According to a press release, Crofoot approached PMM about acquiring the business based on PMM’s reputation for providing high-quality emergency management services.
Andersons buys rail cars
The Andersons Inc. recently acquired 1,600 rail cars to be added to the assets of the Rail Group.
The cars currently are in a lease service with major customers. With the acquisition, the Andersons Rail Group now has about 18,800 cars. The group also owns 114 locomotives.
“Growing the number and types of cars in our inventory allows us to meet a variety of customer needs,” said president and CEO Mike Anderson.
The Andersons has interests in the grain and plant nutrient sectors of agriculture, rail car marketing, industrial materials formulation, turf products production and general merchandise retailing.
The company has several operations, including The Andersons outside of Dunkirk.
Loucks to speak
A local businessman will speak at noon Tuesday, July 26, at the Portland Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
Ramon Loucks of H&B Conditioning will be the guest speaker. The theme of the luncheon is “Spotlight on Industry.” The event will be held in Jay County Hospital conference rooms A and B.

The Budget and Administration Committee meeting of the East Central Indiana Workforce Investment Board scheduled for Wednesday, July 27 has been canceled.

Marsh Supermarkets Inc. recently announced that revenues this year are up by more than $93.5 million, according to the company’s annual report.
As of April 2, total revenues were $1.7 billion compared to $1.6 billion in the same period in 2004.
Marsh currently operates 161 convenience stores and 117 supermarkets, including a LoBill Foods and a Village Pantry in Portland.[[In-content Ad]]
