Poet to read at JCPL

Indiana poet Laureate Karen Kovacik will be the guest at two events on Friday, April 12, at Jay County Public Library. Kovacik is a professor of English at IUPUI and directs the creative writing program.
She will lead a workshop on image journaling from 4 to 5 p.m. for beginners and experienced writers. She will then read from her work and answer questions from 5 to 5:30 p.m. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
• The Cookbook Club will meet Monday, April 8, at 6:15 p.m. The theme is “April Fool’s Mystery” and participants may bring a dish with a secret ingredient that others will try to guess.
• A Beginner’s Internet class will be held Wednesday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn how to use a mouse, navigate a webpage and surf the web. Call the library to register.
• Coffee With Friends will be Saturday, April 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. Friends of the Jay County Public Library will have free coffee and doughnuts.
• National Library Week is April 14 through 20. JCPL will have a photography contest, bookmark contest, essay contest, library memories contest and daily prize drawings. Stop by the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland for more details.
• The Book Discussion Group will meet Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. to discuss the book “Home” by Toni Morrison.
• The Lego Club will meet each Tuesday in April from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Children seven and younger must be accompanied by a child 13 or older.
• Mother Goose will visit the library each Thursday in April at 9:15 a.m. in the Community Room.
• Story times will be held Monday, April 8, 15, 22 and 29 and Tuesday, April 9, 16, 23 and 30, all at 11:15 a.m.
• The Crochet Club will meet Tuesday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.
