Erika Pogue, Portland, was recently honored as the first recipient of the Betty Hamilton PTA Scholarship by Ivy Tech Community College.
A second-year student at Ivy Tech, Pogue will be beginning her final two clinical rotations this spring. She will be participating in clinical education at Adams County Hospital, followed by an orthopedic rotation at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
This first annual scholarship of $500 is awarded to a student who demonstrates excellence in character, service, and clinical dedication.
She is the daughter of Wolfgang and Karen Hoose, Portland.
Students at Ivy Tech were asked to nominate a peer for the award based on the award selection criteria. The top three nominees from this selection process were invited to develop a portfolio demonstrating how they exemplify the criteria in each of three categories.
Student portfolios were then submitted to the PTA Program Advisory Committee and after deliberation, the committee awarded the scholarship to Erika.
