Poling reunion set May 4

The Poling Alumni Association will have an alumni banquet on Saturday, May 4, to mark the 50th anniversary of the last graduating class of Poling High School in 1963. Other classes to be honored are 1913, ’23, ’33, ’43 and ’53.   
All graduates of Poling High School are invited to attend the banquet to be held in the fellowship building at Union Chapel Church at 6200 N. 375 West, Bryant. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and a meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. by the ladies of the church.

An open house, in honor of the last 50 year  alumni of Poling, will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Jay County Historical Society Museum. Personal school memorabilia from members of the class of 1963 will be featured.

NCGLNAC  
A plant identification class will be held Saturday, May 18, at the National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture grounds at 1010 Morton St. in Portland.
Master naturalist Dani Tippman, a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and NCGLNAC, will teach the class identifying native plants.

The 10th Annual Gathering of Great Lakes Nations will be held June 8 and 9 in Portland.

Aging conference
The 10th Annual Aging Well Conference will be held May 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ball State University Alumni Center.
Craig McFarlane, who has been blind since age 2, will be the motivational speaker.
Sessions will include financial planning, chronic disease self-management, legal assistance, tai chi, nutrition, caregiver support, mental health and journaling.
To register by May 16, send a $25 check payable to LifeStream Services, P.O. Box 308, Yorktown, IN 47396. Write “Aging Well Conference” in the memo line of the check.
