Portland buildings featured

Taking Note

Two Portland buildings are featured in the Sept./Oct. issue of Indiana Preservationist Indiana Landmarks magazine.
Photos of The Weiler Building and The Tire Center are included with the article “Restored By Design.” The article mentions how the restoration of the Weiler Building led to the formation of the Portland Historic Preservation Commission and a façade program that provides matching grant money to owners for exterior renovations of downtown commercial buildings.
Mike Wangler, owner of The Tire Center, took advantage of the program by having his property restored back to its 1950’s era. The work was done by Jason Minnich and Minnich Architecture and Construction.
