Portland grad wins regional award

A graduate of Portland High School was the recipient of a 2012 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award.
Barbara Shoup was the Regional Author winner and received a $7,500 prize.
The Eugene & Marilyn Glick awards are a program of the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Pets welcome
The Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva will welcome pets on Saturday, Aug. 4, for an afternoon of contests and fun from 1 to 3 p.m.
There will be an obstacle course for dogs, a best dressed contest and best trick contest for all pets and photos taken.  

Arts classes
The 12th annual National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture Summer Cultural Arts Classes will be held in August.

Classes will be held Monday, Aug. 6, through Friday, Aug. 10, in the Women’s Building at the Jay County Fairgrounds.

Free concert
The Dunkirk Beautification Committee will present the free concert Jason Beeson — Pray for Mojo on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Webster-Depot Park in Dunkirk.
Refreshments will be available.

Library news
