Portland not among finalists

A request for a $6.6 million state grant to fund a daycare run by Youth Service Bureau and improvements to the north side of Portland has been turned down.
Seven cities and towns were announced this morning as finalists for the 2012 Indiana Stellar Communities grant program.
Portland had been a finalist for the program in 2011.
The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs said on its website this morning that Auburn, Crawfordsville, Delphi, Petersburg, Princeton, Richmond and Whitestown are still in the running for one of two grants to be awarded by the state.[[In-content Ad]]
