Pregnancy care center may expand (09/06/06)

The Pregnancy Care Center of Jay County is looking at the possibility of expanding into Blackford County.
"We believe there is a need in that community to promote these programs," said Emily Eikenbary, a Jay County volunteer, "and be able to give support to Blackford County."
The center offers counseling and care for those who are unprepared for pregnancy or who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
Other services offered are free and confidential pregnancy testing, parenting classes, abstinence education, Bible studies, Mommy's Time Out, free STD testing, car seat inspections and support groups.
PCC walk
The Pregnancy Care Center of Randolph County will hold a Walk for Life Sept. 9 at Goodrich Park in Winchester.
The walk will begin at shelter number one at 9 a.m. Registration is at 8:30 a.m.
Walk participants are asked to find sponsors to pledge donations. Sponsor sheets can be picked up at the Winchester PCC, 811 N. Main St., Winchester.

Class of '86
The reservation deadline for the South Adams Class of 1986 20 year reunion has been extended until Friday, Sept. 15. The reunion will be held Sept. 23, from 5:30 p.m. until midnight at the Cross Creek Golf Course Event Center in Decatur.
The class is still looking for the following people: Misty Arnold, Joy Badoreck, Terry Bebout, Michelle Gibson, Jackie Lugar, Michelle Vinson and Mike Dausch.

FFA winners
The Fort Recovery FFA Poultry Judging Team placed second in the state FFA competition in May and earned the privilege to travel to Springfield, Mass., on Sept. 14 to compete in the Eastern States Exposition and Livestock Show (Big E FFA Career Development Event).
Members to compete are Chris Gehret, son of Pat and Ginny Gehret; Kyle Nietfeld, son of Jeff and Linda Nietfeld; Dave Osterholt, son of Mark and Marie Osterholt; and Scott Will, son of Mark and Kathy Will.
The State of Ohio Star FFA Farmer, Lee Stammen, will also compete for the FFA Regional Star Farmer Award. He is the son of Jim and Ann Stammen.

State fair winner
Janet E. Walker, Redkey, was a winner at the Indiana State Fair in the home and family arts division. She won first place for her strip pieced Christmas tree skirt; honorable mention for a Teddy Bear and surface stitchery picture; and fourth place for a patchwork Christmas stocking and handmade wearable art embellished with fancy threads.
Auxiliary meeting
The ladies auxiliary of V.F.W. Post. No. 6515 met in August with 16 members present. Correspondence was read from Dawn Centerofonti from the 501st Dept. of the Air Force thanking them for the saving coupons for families overseas.
