Quilt club holding show (08/10/07)
Taking Note
The Stitch 'n Chatter Quilt Club will hold its annual quilt show in conjunction with the Tri-State Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Show.
The quilt show will be held at Arts Place in Portland Thursday, Aug. 23 through Saturday, Aug. 25. Show hours for Thursday and Friday are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be demonstrations and door prizes and quilt appraisals will take place Friday by appointment.

Volunteer day
The Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross will have two volunteer orientations on Tuesday, Aug. 14. The first will be from 1 to 2:30 and the next from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The orientations will be held at the American Red Cross, 325 E. Washington St., Muncie.

Graduates
Tyler Elliott Helm recently earned a doctorate in physical therapy from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Indiana University in Indianapolis.
He is a 2000 graduate of Jay County High School and a 2004 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington.
Helm is the son of Jerry and Marsha Helm and the grandson of Kathalene Elliott, Redkey. He and his wife Nicole live in Fort Wayne.

The Masons and Knights of Columbus will hold its 40th annual banquet on Sunday, Sept. 9, in Fort Recovery. The banquet will begin at 6:15 p.m. at Mary Help of Christians Church Undercroft.
The guest speaker will be David Helmstetter, Knights of Columbus state treasurer.
