Quilt club to hold annual show (8/19/04)
Taking Note
The Stitch ‘n Chatter Quilt Club will hold its annual quilt show at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.
The show will be held on Thursday, Aug. 26, and Friday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Items will be accepted at Arts Place for the show on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from noon till 2 p.m.
Quilts, quilted wall hangings, purses, and clothing will be accepted.
The club would also like old quilts with a family history to display.
The cost to attend the show is $2. For more information, call Lee Benedict, show chairman, at (260) 726-8995.
ATTENDS CONVENTION
Ann Marie Kesler, Dunkirk, attended the 75th Diamond Jubilee Convention of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International in Minneapolis, Minn., on July 27 through July 31. The theme of the convention was “Sparkle of the Past, Brillance for the Future.”
STATE FAIR
Linda Heitkamp represented Jay County at the Indiana State Fair Showcase of Fashions. She was runner-up in Division I Family Outfits with her dress and her daughter Sarah’s first communion dress.
ART SHOW
Perspectives IV, featuring art by East Central Indiana senior artists, will be held at the Center for Vital Aging, 520 E. Main St. in Muncie from Wednesday, Aug. 25, through Friday, Sept. 10. The hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment. An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 24, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
The show will feature work by 20 local artists who had their work displayed in the Indiana State Fair Senior Art Exhibit.

FREE TREES
Ten white flowering dogwood trees will be given to each person who joins
The National Arbor Day Foundation during August. Members also receive a subscription to the Foundation’s bimonthly publication, Arbor Day, and The Tree Book.
To receive the free trees, send a $10 membership fee to TEN DOGWOODS, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410 by Aug. 31 or join online at arborday.org.
