Quilt show set for July
Taking Note
The Swiss Days Quilt Show will be held at South Adams High School in Berne on July 23, 24 and 25.
A bed turning will be held at this year's show in which several old quilts will be piled on a bed and each one 'turned' while a story is told about it.
There will also be a basket quilt challenge. For specifications, contact Vivian Lemmon at [email protected] or call Bev or Gene Weber at (260) 547-4535 or Betty Johnloz at (260) 824-9502.
Carol Riley will be the featured quilter. She has made more than 75 quilts as well as pillows, table runners, wall hangings, pot-holders, purses, jackets and placemats.
The show is sponsored by the Swiss Stitchers Quilt Guild.
Park art
Arts in the Parks classes begin June 10 and continue through July 30. Classes will be held in Berne, Dunkirk, Geneva, Hartford City, Montpelier, Pennville, Portland, Redkey and Fort Recovery.
Arts in the Parks Goes to Camp will be held June 22 through 26. Students will learn about different media and artists and create individual and group projects.
Arts in the Parks Theatre Camp will begin on July 13 and 15. Students will learn theatre combat, accents and laughs.
Musical Petting Zoo will allow children to experiment with guitar, strings and band instruments.
Family Nights will include raku, pottery wheel, theatre night and jug band.
Classes are $5 each or $20 for unlimited classes.

Roundtable
A quarterly meeting of the Region Five Roundtable will be held at Arts Place in Portland on Thursday, June 18, at 2 p.m.
The Region Five Roundtable is an advisory council to Arts Place, Inc. and affects planning, delivery and evaluation of the four core regional services of grant making, technical assistance, information and referral and cultural planning.
An awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in which the Region Five Grant Awards for Arts Organization Support, Arts Project Support and Minigrants from the Indiana Regional Arts Partnership will be announced.
Arts Place in located at 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland.
Basket class
A basket making class will be held at the South Adams Senior Center on Tuesday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wilma Rigby will teach how to make a napkin basket. The cost is $10 and reservations are due by Friday. To register, call the South Adams Senior Center at (260) 589-8877.
Graduates
Shannon O'Dell, Pennville, recently graduated, Summa Cum Laude, from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, with a bachelor of arts degree.
O'Dell was also the highest ranking senior scholar and the outstanding senior in accounting and was chosen as a Senior Pilgrim Scholar and a Alpha Chi Academic Honorary.[[In-content Ad]]
