Radke, Chargers defeat Jay County (01/08/08)

FORT WAYNE - The Patriots just couldn't keep up with Caitlin Radke.
The sophomore won every event and took the all-around by nearly five points Monday night in leading the host Carroll Chargers to a 101.15-93.15 victory over the Jay County High School gymnastics team.
Radke posted a 36.45 all-around total, with Erika Hunt of JCHS second at 31.65. Her high score was a 9.5 to win the floor exercise, following first-place scores of 9.15 on the vault, 9.0 on the balance beam and 8.8 on the uneven bars.
Hunt and freshman Kristen Ainsworth were the only Patriots to finish in the top three in any event.
Hunt posted identical scores of 8.3 on the floor and vault for second and third place respectively. Ainsworth had a 7.9 on the bars, where she finished as the runner-up.
Jay County lost the junior varsity competition 82.25-79.9 despite a victory from Lexie Rowles with a 7.8 on the vault.
Trio leads Patriots
Three players reached double figures Monday, scoring all but two points for the Jay County freshman boys basketball team in a 39-34 victory over the visiting Anderson highland Scots.
Drew Houck led the effort for JCHS, which led by five after each of the first two quarters. He scored half of his 16 points in the opening quarter.
Garrett Krieg added 11 points, and Zach Cash scored 10. The only other Patriot to score in the game was Tyler Claycomb, who hit his lone field goal in the fourth quarter.
Tribe still winless
Fort Recovery's freshman boys basketball team is still looking for its first win of the season after Monday's 68-41 loss to the St. Henry Redskins.

Manor powers JCHS
Brittany Manor nearly matched the entire Eastbrook squad by herself as she powered the Jay County freshman girls basketball team to a 35-17 win Monday over the visiting Panthers.
Manor buried a trio of 3-pointers for the Patriots, who held Eastbrook to just a single fourth-quarter point. She finished with 15 points in the victory.
Logan Laux and Taylor Burris each added six points.
Deidre Chenoweth had four points.
Chiefs still perfect
The East Jay Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team played a consistent final three quarters Monday and held off the visiting Coldwater Cavaliers 28-24 to stay perfect on the year. The eighth grade Chiefs also won, 37-24.
East Jay's seventh graders, now 9-0, led just 4-2 after the first period. But they scored eight points in each of the final three quarters to keep their undefeated record.
Kegan Comer, Cade Price and Scott Schwieterman each scored six points in the victory.
The EJMS eighth grade team (8-1) limited Coldwater to just two points in the second and third quarters.
Matt Landfair paced the scoring effort with 10 points, and Jordan McBride followed with eight.
Stars fall to St. Joe
DECATUR - The South Adams seventh grade boys basketball team lost Monday by a 36-15 final to host St. Joe.
Blake Fox had six points in the defeat. Evan Liechty added three points.
