Railroad plans holiday events (11/26/2008)

Taking Note

The Whitewater Valley Railroad has once again planned a schedule of holiday-related events along its tracks from Connersville to Metamora.

Trains for the Christmas Walk will depart Connersville at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, Saturday, Nov. 29, Saturday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 13, and allow three hours in Metamora before returning.

The cost is $25 for adults, and $15 for children ages 2 to 12. Private caboose rentals are also available for $400 for a maximum of 20 guests.

The Santa Claus Express will also run on Friday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Tickets are $5.

The Polar Express, which will include hot chocolate and cookies while listening to the story "The Polar Express," on the way to the "North Pole," will depart Nov. 28-29 at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m.; Nov. 30 at 5:15 p.m.; Dec. 5-6, 12-13 at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m.; and Dec. 7 and 14 at 5:15 p.m.

After the visit to the North Pole, Santa will board the train and ride back to Connersville, giving each child a sleigh bell.

Tickets are $25 per adult and $16 per child for the Polar Express event.

Attends exposition

Laci B. Smitley, Portland, and Bradley J. Green, Bryant, recently attended the 35th annual North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.

Smitley entered a shorthorn bull in the beef open division and Green entered a 50 percent Maine in the junior steer division.



Nurses reunion

Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond invites graduates to come and reminisce at its first Nursing Program Reunion on Friday, Dec. 5.

"Come Home for the Holidays" to Ivy Tech will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Hall for all licensed practical nursing and associate degree graduates.

Desserts will be provided and nursing photos from the past will be displayed. Faculty members will be present to visit, a tour of Johnson Hall and demonstrations of new equipment will be given.

Honor society

Andrew Flueckiger, the son of Russ and Susan Flueckiger of Geneva, has become a member of Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society at Indiana University.

He is a senior majoring in political science and minoring in Near Eastern language and culture and is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha and the National Political Science Honor Society.

Flueckiger is in the Delayed Entry Program of the United States Navy and will go active after graduation in May.[[In-content Ad]]
