Railroaders drop SAHS to 0-4

BERNE - The South Adams girls soccer team is still looking for its first win after falling 3-1 Thursday in its Allen County Athletic Conference opener against the visiting Garrett Railroaders.
Garrett scored the only first-half goal when Heather House connected on a shot with 11:38 left on the clock. The Railroaders pushed their lead to 2-0 just two minutes into the second half.
Victoria Smith gave the Starfires (0-4) their only goal of the game at the 28-minute mark, and Garrett scored for the final margin off of a corner kick with nine minutes remaining.
Both teams totalled 11 shots on goal, with Smith recording four for South Adams.
Katrina Hawkins finished with three shots, and Chelsey Nevil added two.
Jessie Beavers recorded seven saves, and Hannah Muhlenkamp had two saves.
Spikers fall to No. 4
DECATUR - The Starfire volleyball team's record slipped to 1-8 Thursday as it fell 25-8, 25-10, 25-8 to the host Bellmont Squaws, who are ranked fourth in Class 3A.
Taylor Farlow had three kills and two blocks for South Adams. Kassy Potts totaled seven digs.
