Rally for cure to be held at PCC (7/23/04)

The Portland Country Club Women’s Association is sponsoring the 5th annual “Rally for a Cure with Golf for Women magazine” program Tuesday, Aug. 10. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and tee time is 9 a.m.
The event is to increase breast cancer awareness. Titleist golf balls bearing the pink ribbon breast cancer awareness symbol will be awarded to every player who hits the green on their first swing and a prize will be given for the shot that lands nearest to the hole.
The entry fee of $15 includes a one year subscription to “Golf for Women” magazine. Cost of green fees and a cart for nine holes is $16.50. The rally will be followed by a picnic.

BOOSTER BASH
The Fort Recovery Athletic Boosters will hold their first annual “Booster Bash” Friday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 8.
The event will be held at Rossburg Acres Campground, just west of Rossburg on Rossburg-Lightsville Road. Swimming and fishing are available at the campground.
Friday is high school night from 6 p.m. to midnight with games, contests, concessions and musical entertainment. There will be adult chaperones and the cost is $5.
A golf open will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. (Ohio time) at the Portland Country Club. The cost is $40 and registration is at Hastings Auto Sales. Adult night will begin at 7 p.m. at Rossburg, with a DJ and a “Texas Hold-Em” tourney.
Sunday is family day from noon to 6 p.m.

SUMMER CAMP
Members of the Fort Recovery FFA Chapter attended FFA camp in Carrolton, Ohio, from July 12 through July 16.
Campers participated in basketball, soccer, water polo, table tennis, and shotgun and rifle range tournaments. They attended state officer led leadership sessions and workshops and enjoyed campfires, swimming, canoeing and motor boating on Leesville Lake.
Members attending were Tana Bergman, Emily Crouch, Beth Fortkamp, Josh Gaerke, Nick Grey, Jennifer Guggenbiller, Beth Lennartz, Jackie Lennartz, Melanie Lennartz, Jackie Link, Alicia Schmackers, Craig Sudhoff, Lindsay Sudhoff, Eric Weitzel, Mary Will, Rachel Will and Ryan Will. Chapter advisors Michael Gower and Joe Hawk served as chaperones.
NEW MEMBER
The Girl Scouts of Wapehani Council welcomes new member Amber Singer to the Council Staff. She is the new Membership Field Executive covering Grant, Jay, and Randolph counties. She is a native of Daleville and graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Telecommunications. She will be responsible for recruiting volunteers to serve Girl Scouts in the areas of programming and leadership.
