Reading program scheduled at JCPL

Taking note

The Adult Winter Reading Program begins Friday at Jay County Public Library and continues through Feb. 28. Read books, e-books, graphic novels, magazines and audio books and fill out a prize entry form for each completed work to be eligible for prize drawings. Register now at the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland.
Speed book sharing will be held Monday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at JCPL. Come prepared to share three minutes about several books you have read recently.

January students
West Jay Middle School named its Students of the Month for January.
In sixth grade was Randi Ferguson, the daughter of Tom and Jane Ferguson.
In seventh grade was Ashley Adkins, the daughter of Roger Adkins.
In eighth grade was Kylie Ring, the daughter of Jeremy and Amanda Ring.

Bee winner

General Shanks Elementary recently held its Star Press Spelling Bee.
The winner was Cooper Jacks, fifth grade, the son of Troy and Angie Jacks, Portland.
The runner-up was Dakota Wilhelm, the fourth grade daughter of Debbie Wilhelm, Portland.
Cooper will compete in the regional contest on March 16 at Cornerstone Center for the Arts Muncie.
 
Dean’s list
Jay County High School graduates Tyler Claycomb, Heather Corle and Laura Vogler were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Anderson University.
Toby Metzger, Fort Recovery, was named to the dean’s list at The Ohio State University at Lima for the autumn semester.
