Rebels spoil Jay's home finale (10/06/06)

After a strong showing against Fort Recovery Tuesday, the Patriots struggled in their home finale.

The Jay County volleyball team stumbled in a 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 loss to the Randolph Southern Rebels Thursday, marking its seventh loss in its last nine matches.

Shelby Rines finished with 15 digs and five kills as the Patriots dropped to 11-17. Jessica Muhlenkamp had seven points and six digs.

Erica Clark finished with 18 assists, Sarah Westgerdes had seven kills and Ashley Horn scored three points.

Liz Walker finished with 11 points, including six aces, and six assists in the junior varsity squad's 24-25, 25-23, 15-11 loss to Randolph Southern. Ashley Thigpen had 12 digs, and Kelsey Wood finished with five kills.

Tribe gridders fall

MARIA STEIN, Ohio - Fort Recovery's middle school football teams managed one score in two games against the Marion Local Flyers Thursday. The Tribe seventh grades came up just short in an 8-6 defeat, and the eighth graders lost 30-0.

Kenny Wenning scored the lone touchdown for the Indians on a 6-yard run in the seventh grade game.

WJ spikers split

MONTPELIER - West Jay Middle School's eighth grade volleyball team defeated Montpelier 25-19, 25-23 Thursday. The seventh graders lost 25-15, 25-23.

Ashley Franklin led the eighth grade team's victory, scoring eight of her nine points in game two. Talir Ellis scored six of her seven points in the opening game, and Kendra Younger finished with six points and five kills.

Kelsey Sell totaled eight points for the seventh grade Eagles. Shannon Springer added four points.[[In-content Ad]]
