Alex Bader improved a team-record swim for the second straight meet.
The East Jay Middle School eighth grader swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 11.68 seconds, Monday.
The Jay County middle school girls and boys swim teams closed out their home schedule with a win over Bellmont. The scores were not available.
Bader lowered the record she set last season and also added a victory in the 100 individual medley.
Kaitlyn Dow and Elizabeth McDowell were both double-event winners. Dow placed first in the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle, and McDowell won the 200 and 500 freestyle.
For the girls, Courtney Miles placed first in diving, and Tayler Smeltzer (50 butterfly) and Cody Moser (diving) were single event winners for the boys squad.

Teagle named to Top 100
Jay County High School boys basketball player Trey Teagle was named to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 100 senior boys for the 2013-14 season.
The list, compiled by magazine publisher Garry H. Donna, is made up of seniors throught the state of Indiana.

From the top 100 players, 60 will be invited to the Hoosier Baketball Magazine’s 27th annual Top 60 Senior Boys’ Workout April 6 at Marian University in Indianapolis.
Teagle, who missed the first five games with an ankle injury he suffered in the preseason, averaged 12.1 points per game. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Patriots, who finished 13-8 for the program’s 13th straight winning season.

West Jay falls to Raiders
DUNKIRK — Three West Jay Middle School wrestlers earned first-period pins Monday, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles fell 42-26 to the Southern Wells Raiders.
West Jay also placed 10th Saturday at the Adams Central Invitational.
Against Southern Wells, Brenden Lawhorn (105-pound weight division), Gavin Corwin (110) and Larkin Alsip (200) all pinned their opponents in the opening period.
Mitchell Ferguson (115) won by a 9-7 decision, and Danny Kilgore (130) shut out his opponent for a 17-0 technical fall.
Devin Wagner (120), Nick Overla (HWT) and Lawhorn all earned wins against the Raiders in reserve action.
At the Adams Central Invite, Chase Gillette (135) and Dawson Segler (175) both placed third for West Jay. Malcolm McIntire (90), Ferguson, Alsip and Overla all finished fourth.[[In-content Ad]]
