Retired teach to speak at museum

Taking note

Retired teacher Phil DeHaven, Union City, will present the program "Toward the Treaty of Greene Ville, Part I" on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St. in Portland.

The program will explain St. Clair's defeat.

Anthony Westgerdes, Fort Recovery, was named to the dean's list for the spring quarter at the University of Northwestern, Ohio, in Lima.

Book sale

Friends of the Jay County Public Library will be accepting donations for its annual book sale beginning Monday and continuing through Aug. 25.

Books should be in good, clean condition and should not include textbooks, out-dated encyclopedias, medical books and out-dated magazines.

Volunteers are needed on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to noon. Jay County High School seniors who need to meet community service requirements should call Miranda Hummel at (260) 726-7890.

Graduates

Katie Homan graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in athletic training, summa cum laude.

She is the daughter of Doug and Ellen Homan, Fort Recovery.

Home care training

The Indiana Home and Hospice Care Foundation will offer training for new home care workers to care for elderly patients.
