Return on investment not there

Line Drives

What exactly do we get from being fans? Something to do at night or on weekends? Office bragging rights when your team beats my team?
The reality of collegiate and professional sports teams is to make money. It’s simply a business.
But with all the time, effort and money some people put into their “fanhood,” is it really worth the return?
It seems as if the business aspect means more to the leagues, owners and universities than the people who really matter in the grand scheme of things; people like me and you — fans.

With recent NFL and NHL lockouts and the ever-increasing ticket prices hurting the people who should matter most to them, it seems as if the higher-ups in these leagues can’t see past the dollar signs in front of them.
But as ticket and apparel prices continue to rise, stadiums will still be filled with the home team’s colors.
So think about it, what has your team done to offset the hard-earned money you spend to support them?
It’s probably not the return you expected.[[In-content Ad]]
