Track roundup

GAS CITY - Brandon Reynard may have found his niche.

Reynard won the 300-meter hurdles Monday for the second straight meet as he led the Jay County boys team with a couple of wins. The Patriots put up another good fight, but fell 65-58 to the Mississinewa Indians.

Reynard, who was not a hurdler last season, earned his win in the 300 race in 43.3 seconds. He also took first place in the 100 dash at 11.3, with teammate Sean Hatzell just one 10th of a second behind as the runner-up.

Hatzell added a victory of his own in the 200 dash at 23.3 seconds, and Mason Shreve gave the Patriots a second hurdle win in the 110 with a time of 16.35. Dexter Shreve (5 feet, 6 inches) and Hatzel combined for a one-two finish in the high jump, and Andrew Lancaster took the discus victory with a toss of 115 feet, 1 inch.
