Ridge gets new leader

Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center, 200 N. Park St., Portland, recently announced the appointment of a new administer at the facility.
Jason Priest of Muncie was named the new administrator. Priest has worked for Persimmon Ridge for about a year as administrator-in-training. He recently received his health facility administrator license.
Priest has a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has worked in long term care for about 8 years.
Agency honored
Fort Recovery Insurance Agency recently received the 2012 Diplomat agency award from Buckeye Insurance Group.
According to a press release, the winners were recognized for personalized customer service and superior sales performance.
The award is presented annually to select independent insurance agencies that represent Buckeye.
Mercer Health assessment
A Mercer County community health needs assessment performed, in part, by Mercer Health was recently released and available to view on the hospital’s website.
The federal Affordable Care Act enacted in 2010 contained a requirement on most hospitals to conduct community health needs assessments and to implement strategies that address the findings in the assessment. Mercer Health worked with a broad range of local organizations to identify and collect the health information
The Mercer County assessment provides information to prioritize localized healthcare for the Mercer County community.
The assessment can be viewed online at www.mercer-health.com.
Funding for the assessment was provided by Mercer County-Celina City Health Department, Mercer Health and Gateway Outreach Center.
Scott earns PHR
Becky Scott, director of human resources and staff development at LifeStream Services, Yorktown, has successfully earned her Professional Human Resources credentials from the Society for Human Resource Management’s HR Certification Institute.
The certification process involves a comprehensive exam that signifies Scott possesses theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management.
Scott, who has been with LifeStream for about 16 years, manages a human resources department that works with about 120 staff members.
Brown awarded
Monte Brown, vice president of commercial real estate for Coldwell Banker Commercial Lunsford in Muncie, was named the 2012 “Number One Sales Professional” in Indiana by Coldwell Banker Commercial corporate offices.
This is the second time Brown has received the award.
He also earned a spot in Coldwell Banker Commercial’s Bronze Level Circle of Distinction based on his transaction revenue for 2012.
Taco Bell rebounds
Taco Bell’s new upscale menu items and premium pricing helped the fast-food store’s sales jump 5 percent in the fourth quarter.
Taco Bell, owned by Yum Brands, saw sales at its U.S. stores open at least a year rise by 5 percent, topping fellow Yum brands KFC and Pizza Hut as well as fourth-quarter same-store sales at McDonald’s.
The taco-seller has become the fast growing of Yum’s brands in the United States.
The jump, in part, came about due to the chain’s introduction of its Doritos Locos Tacos last year.
