FISHERS — Mitchel Rigby completed his career competing against the state’s elite divers.
Rigby, a Jay County High School senior, finished 19th Tuesday at the diving regional meet that started at Hamilton Southeastern and finished at Fishers.
The top eight divers from each of four regionals advance to the state finals.
Rigby scored 170.75 points through his first eight dives, placing him 19th out of 20 competitors. He finished a head of Snider’s Marquette Billingsley, who score 163.15 points.
The meet began at Hamilton Southeastern before power went out and could not be restored. It was then moved to Fishers, which is just over three miles away.
Lafayette Jefferson’s Dustin Miller won the regional with 536.6 points. Cody Coldren of Hamilton Southeastern was the runner-up at 530.7.

Starfire boys fall
WINCHESTER — The South Adams boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter, but could not fight all the way back from a double-digit deficit as it fell 69-62 to the Winchester Golden Falcons.
The Starfires (2-16), who have dropped 16 in a row, trailed by eight at the half. Winchester outscored them 20-11 in the third quarter to build a lead and then held on in the fourth.
Chase Mosser scored 26 points to lead South Adams. Blake Fox had 12 points and six rebounds, and Cal Clouser grabbed 10 boards.
Isaiah Davis finished with 16 points for the Golden Falcons (11-9), who have won six in a row. Alan Brutchen had 13 points and four rebounds, and Matt Thornburg scored 11 points.
SAHS lost the junior varsity game 59-45 despite getting 17 points from Wes Thompson.

WJ defeats Daleville
DALEVILLE —
West Jay Middle School’s wrestling team picked up a 57-36 victory Tuesday over the Daleville Broncos.
The Eagles earned five pins in the victory, four of which came in less than a minute.
Brenden Lawhorn (90) came up with the quickest pin in just 26 seconds, and Mitchell Ferguson (115), Nick Lykins (125) and Malcolm McIntire (80) added pins in 27, 42 and 47 seconds respectively.
Gavin Corwin (95) came up with a pin in 2:29, and Ryan Hough (85) added a 9-6 victory.
Brianna Shrout added an exhibition victory.

Chiefs defeat UC
The East Jay wrestling team rolled to victory Tuesday as it defeated visiting Union City 57-26.
The Chiefs improved to 11-2 thanks in part to eight pins, including an overtime pin from Daniel Ostrowski (125). Also coming up with pins for EJMS were Caleb Chenoweth (90), Kaimen Sanders (95), Ivan Hemmelgarn (110), Tyler Leonhard (145), Gaven Hare (160), Jacob Ferguson (175) and Austin Harter (HWT).
Jose Bermudez (85) won by a 10-3 decision, and Davis Anderson (80) and Brent Englehardt (115) also picked up victories by decision.
Derek Bryan, Ben Muhlenkamp, Dustin Bricker, Troy Frazier, Dimitri Taylor, Hunter Younce and Ethan Solis all won exhibition matches.

Miles wins vault
INDIANAPOLIS — Courtney Miles won the vault competition at the Sweetheart Classic, which was held Saturday and Sunday at Washington High School.
Miles took the top spot in the 12-and-older Level 7 vault as she posted a 9.3. She was fifth on the uneven bars with an 8.85 and fifth in the all-around competition at 35.85.
Jocelyn Huey finished fourth in a pair of events with scores of 9.1 on the balance beam and 8.9 on the vault. Halle Hill scored a 9.15 on the floor exercise and 9.075 on the vault for fifth place on both events.
Hannah Outcalt posted career-best scores of 8.15 on the bars and 34.7 in the all-around.[[In-content Ad]]
