Rockets fall in extras
Portland Rockets
RICHMOND — Within one strike of sweeping the Richmond RiverRats, the Portland Rockets couldn’t finish the job.
Richmond took advantage of one error to tie the game in the ninth and another to take a 3-2 victory over the Rockets in the 10th.
Portland led 2-1 with two outs and the bases empty in the ninth inning before the RiverRats got a walk, a single and an error to even the score. A single, a stolen base and an error led to the game-winning run in extra innings.
Heath Williams, a Jay County High School graduate, had four hits for the Rockets, but never scored. Portland left 11 runners on base, including three who were on third with less than two outs.
Brady Roundtree added three hits.
Devin Wilburn went four innings and gave up just one run on five hits.[[In-content Ad]]
