Rocket bats clobbered their way through a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend, while Rocket pitching limited opponents to just three runs in four games.
Dan Bollenbacher and Mitch Waters took care of pitching duties Saturday as the Rockets knocked off the Fort Wayne Orioles 6-0 and 11-1.
Bollenbcher pitched five no-hit innings and struck out seven. Dalton Tinsley smacked a three-run homer for the Rockets to add a decisive finish.
Sunday saw the Rockets roll past the Fort Wayne Cougars 7-1 and 11-1.
Tyler Reynolds of Muncie was dominant for the Rockets on the mound, pitching six shutout innings.
Offensively, Tinsley provided another homer while Logan Hug had eight hits over the weekend and Zach Tanner had six.
The Rockets host the Napoleon Riverbandits at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Runkle-Miller Field.
Racing at Montpelier
Several area drivers ran competitively Saturday at Montpelier Motor Speedway.
Richard Williams finished ninth in Super Streets, with Curtis Heiser finishing 16th.
Sean Torre took eighth, Brian Baldauf tenth, and Steve Mills 17th in Thunder Cars Main A heat. Torre took second and Baldauf fifth in the Main B heat.
Todd Weaver finished eighth in the Main B heat.
In FWD Compacts, Brock Farmer finished fourth.
Rookie Girls results
Optimist SB defeated REMC 10-1 Friday in Rookie Girls competition in Portland Junior League.
Emily Byrum and Hilary Cox each had three hits for Optimist, while Destiny McManus and Katie Haffner had three hits for REMC.
Brewster topped First Merchants 20-11.
Bralee VanSkyock, Laci McGinnis, Makay Champ, and Abby Gillium each had five hits for First Merchants.
Riah Champ and Savannah Hamilton each had four hits.
