Rockets push streak to 9 wins (06/23/08)
Portland Rockets
The momentum just keeps building.
The Portland Rockets followed up their Friday upset of the previoulsy unbeaten Ohio Warhawks with a sweep Sunday over the Midwest Tomahawks. The home team won 9-6 and 7-6 to push its winning streak to nine games.
Portland's run was in jeopardy as it trailed 6-5 after five innings in the second game against Midwest. However, Jake Carr came through with a two-run single that brought Aaron Pfeffenberger and Jay County High School graduate Heath Williams home with the tying and winning runs.
Mitch Waters (JCHS) finished off the win with a one-two-three seventh inning in relief of Josh Atkinson, another former Patriot.
Corey Murray went five innings in the opening game to earn the win, and Nick Bruns celebrated his birthday by earning a two-inning save.[[In-content Ad]]
