Rockets settle for Sunday split

FORT WAYNE - Mark Isenberg played the hero in Sunday's opener. But the Rockets fell short in their second game.
Isenberg's delivered the game-tying and game-winning hits as Portland defeated host Lamargarita Blues 9-7 in nine innings Sunday. The Rockets dropped game two of the double-header 7-3.
Portland trailed 7-5 and was down to their last out in the opener when Isenberg drove in Corey Scott and Derek Mounsey with a hit to right-center field. He came up again with two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth inning and ripped a two-run single to put the Rockets in the lead.
Riley Muhlenkamp and Michael Ingram each added two hits apiece.
Bill Geeslin earned the victory, shutting down Lamargarita in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
Portland fell behind in the second game, giving up six runs in the first inning. Justin Branock had the key hit for the Rockets, who left runners on base in six innings, with a two-run single in the fifth inning.
Ludy drives in 3
HYANNIS, Mass. - Jay County High School graduate Josh Ludy was responsible for all three of the Wareham Gatemen runs in a 4-3 loss Tuesday to the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
Ludy, playing for Wareham in the Cape Cod League this summer, started at catcher and drove in three runs. He was 2-for-4 at the plate with a single, a double and a sacrifice fly.
He has played in three games thus far and has two doubles.
Barger, Phelps lead
Teammates Ryder Barger and Emily Phelps were the top scorers Saturday in West Jay Community Center Summer Soccer League action.
Barger and Phelps each scored five times in leading the sharks to a 12-0 victory over the Squidz. Zarron Lee also scored five times as the Lions defeated the Jaguars 6-3.
Jacob Conley finished the day with four goals, and Lillian Rogers and Gabriela Bilbrey each had three.
Tatman team wins
The Tatman Dental team finished first Saturday in the Jay Community Center's J. Gordon Meeker Golf Tournament.
The winning team including Mark Tatman, Scott Rines, Brian Watson and Mike Snyder. The Gray/McClung team finished as the runner up, and PrePaid Legal was third.[[In-content Ad]]
