Rockets suffer 2 losses in Celina

CELINA, Ohio - The Rockets opened the season with two wins. But Sunday, they fell short in Celina.
Portland stayed close against the Grand Lake Mariners, but dropped both ends of a double-header 5-1 and 5-3.
Ethan Triblolet and Jay County High School graduate Josh Atkinson took the losses despite strong starting efforts. Tribolet tossed four innings before leaving with a 2-1 deficit, and Atkinson went five as he left down 4-3.
The Rockets totaled 11 hits on the day, four of which came from Jensen Painter. Riley Muhlenkamp and JCHS graduate Heath Williams each added two hits.
Eels fall to Minster
FORT RECOVERY - Perry Hull won three events for the Fort Recovery Eels Thursday as they dropped their summer swim season opener 953-527 to the Minster Marlins.
Hull won the 15-18-year-old 50-meter butterfly, 100 individual medley and 100 freestyle to pace the Eels. Andy Gray took first place in the 13-14-year-old 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle, and Marshal Hull captured the 13-14-year-old 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley.
Single event winners for Fort Recovery were Cori Stone, Riley Ellenberger, Carly Stone, Marshall Hull, Dillon Ramirez, Calvin Rammel, MacKinely Timmerman and Cassidy Martin.
Ludy hits in 1st game
WAUSAU, Wis. - Jay County High School graduate Josh Ludy got on base twice in his first game for the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
Ludy opened his summer baseball season with the Woodchucks, who play in the Northwoods League, with a single in a 14-1 loss to the Rochester Honkers. He finished the game 1-for-3, and also drew a walk.[[In-content Ad]]
