COLDWATER, Ohio - Tina Roessner and Mindy Vogel took care of most of the scoring for the Fort Recovery girls team on the second day of the Mercer County Knights of Columbus Invitational.

They each scored 12 points at the meet at Coldwater as the Indians added 311/3 points to their Tuesday tally to finish fourth with 58.33. The host Cavaliers won the five-team meet with 97.33, and St. Henry was second with 87.

Roessner highlighted the evening for the Tribe, bringing home the team's second county championship. She finished more than four seconds ahead of Coldwater's Allison Honingford to take the 3,200-meter run title in 12:39.12.

Senior Holly Stein gave the Indians their other championship Tuesday with her discus victory. She was also the runner-up in the shot put.

Roessner also combined with Vogel for a big scoring effort in the 1,600 run. She finished third at 5:49.15 while Vogel grabbed the runner-up spot with a time of 5:42.51.

Vogel turned in a second runner-up finish as she trailed only Coldwater's Ashley Kanney in the 800 run at 2:33.01.

Eagles crush Salamonie

WARREN - Chance Fuller and Zach Cash had a field day.

The duo each won three individual events Thursday in leading the West Jay Middle School boys team to a 70-39 triumph over Salamonie.

Fuller finished first in the two longest races of the evening, taking the 800-meter run in 2-minutes, 52 seconds and the 1,600 run in 6:13. He was also first in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches.

Cash won the 100 dash in 12.8 seconds, the 110 hurdles at 19.3 and the 400 dash with a time of 1-minute even. He also teamed with Blake Crouch, Anthony Skeens and Tyler Back for a fourth win at 54.8 in the 4x100 relay.

Back took the top spot in the shot put at 30 feet, 71/2 inches, and Taylor Hatzell won the discus with a toss of 76 feet, 4 inches.[[In-content Ad]]
