Rogers is recognized at Indiana Statehouse

The executive director of Arts Place in Portland was presented an award on Tuesday that acknowledges individuals in the field of the arts that exude excellence.
Eric Rogers received recognition from the Indiana Arts Coalition Foundation through the Community Arts Leadership Awards (CALA) and was given a one-of-a-kind piece of glass art kiln-crafted by artist Kathleen Kitch.
After receiving the award in the rotunda of the Indiana Statehouse, Rogers and others were recognized before members of the Indiana House and Senate.
Scholarships offered
Jay County Sheriff Ray Newton recently announced that the Indiana Sheriffs' Association is awarding college scholarships to high school seniors or college students who are pursuing or plan to pursue a degree in criminal justice studies.
To qualify for scholarships, students must be an Indiana resident, be a member of the association or a dependent child or grandchild of a member of the association, attend an Indiana college or university majoring in the law enforcement field and be enrolled as a full time student.
Applications are available from the high school guidance office, the sheriff's office or by writing to the Indiana Sheriffs' Association, P.O. Box 19127, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
Applications must be received by April 1 at the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
Geneva scholarships
Geneva Proud is offering two $500 scholarships to seniors at South Adams High School who are residents of Wabash, Jefferson or Hartford Township in Geneva.
Applications are available at the high school guidance office and are to be returned to the Geneva branch of Adams County Public Library by Monday, April 5, at 5 p.m.
Dean's list
Stephanie Wellman made the dean's list for the fall semester of 2009 at the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University.
She is studying to be an occupational therapist and is the daughter of Greg and Kathy Wellman of Bryant.[[In-content Ad]]
