FISHERS - The season came to an end Tuesday for the Patriot divers.

Nadlie Runyon and April Acker, who finished first and second respectively as Jay County High School hosted the sectional Saturday, fell short of earning state berths and the Hamilton Southeastern diving regional. Runyon placed 16th overall, and Acker was last in the 20-diver field.

Only the top eight from each regional advance to the state finals.

Meghan Potee of Noblesville won the regional meet, by far the most difficult of the four in the state, with a total of 419.65 points. Becky Schmidt from Westfield was the final qualifier at 378.25.

Low qualifying scores from the other regionals were 326.9 at Brownsburg, 315.45 at Penn and 293.15 at Bloomington North.

Cards top Fort

Fort Recovery High School's freshman boys basketball team stayed close through three quarters Tuesday before falling 46-30 to the New Bremen Cardinals.

Fort Recovery was within two at the end of the first and second quarters, and still trailed just five heading into the final period. But the Cardinals outscored them 15-4 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Ryan Link scored 14 points for the Indians, who fell to 1-10 on the year. Ryan Schoen had eight points, and Elliott Post grabbed 12 rebounds.

Indians down Jays

FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team advanced again in the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday, topping the St. Johns Blue Jays 30-26.

Kylie Kahlig scored 12 points for the Indians, who are now 15-1 on the season. Kelly Nietfeld added 10 points.

The Tribe advances to play at home Saturday against Minster at 11:15 a.m.[[In-content Ad]]
