Local roundup

FOUNTAIN CITY - In the opener, the Starfires couldn't get the one extra run they needed. In game two, they had more than enough.

South Adams High School's baseball team split a double-header Saturday with the Northeastern Knights, falling 7-6 in 10 innings and winning 22-10 in five innings.

The Starfires took control in the second inning of game two as they scored 11 runs. They added three more in the third and fourth, and five in the fifth, as Chase Sprunger picked up the victory.

SAHS had a 50 lead in the second game, but allowed six runs in the final three innings as Northeastern rallied to force extras.

The host Knights finally scored the game-winning run off Ethan Sharp in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Sharp finished the game with three doubles, two RBIs and a run. Jacob Sonnentag blasted a three-run home run.
