SA girls soccer wins 7th straight (09/11/07)

South Adams roundup

BERNE - It seems there's no stopping the Starfires. At least, neither set of Patriots could do it.

Fresh off a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Jay County Patriots Saturday, the South Adams High School girls soccer team handed out an 8-0 beating to the Heritage Patriots Monday.

Kinsey Lengerich turned in an eight-point evening, including a hat trick, for the Starfires, who have won seven straight since dropping their season opener to Norwell. She opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game off an Emily Steiner assist, and then assisted on Maddie Moore's score nine minutes later.

Lengerich added two more goals in the second half, and picked up a second assist on a Chelsey Nevil goal. Ashton Morgan added two goals, and Moore had two second-half assists.

The South Adams defense held Heritage without a single shot on goal.

Boys soccer rolls

MONROEVILLE - Adam McLaughlin went wild for 10 points, leading the Starfire boys soccer team to a 7-2 win over the Heritage Patriots.

McLaughlin, a senior, scored four times as South Adams won its fourth straight. He also had two assists, both of which went to Zack Sharp.

Junior Travis Lavy also scored as the Starfires improved to 4-2-2 and 3-0 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.

Knights defeat golfers

BLUFFTON - South Adams' girls golf team had no answer for Katie Imel and the Norwell Knights as they fell 182-258 Monday at Timber Ridge Golf Course.

Imel was 13 strokes better than every other golfer as she finished with a 2-under-par 34 for medalist honors. Amber Melick paced South Adams with a 49.

Alyssa Neuenschwander was second for the Starfires with a 66, followed by Tricia Crider (68) and Grace Dobler (75). Kara Lehman shot 80.

Boys tennis falls to HN
