SA grapplers stay unbeaten
South Adams roundup
BERNE — Six pins carried the undefeated South Adams High School wrestling team to a 42-24 victory over the visiting Garrett Railroaders.
Jordan Lanners (152) scored the quickest of those pins, finishing off Gabe Gumion in just 45 seconds. Also adding pins for the Starfires (7-0) were L.J. Moser (112) in 1 minute, 12 seconds, Eric Pimental (119), Todd Batt (125), Josh Ehr (145) and Adam Hofstetter (160).
Cody Conner (189) added a victory by a 10-4 decision, and Charlie Hirschy won by a 6-1 decision.
Tankers top Angola
ANGOLA — The Starfire girls swim team defeated the Angola Hornets 103-66 Thursday, and the boys squad picked up a 99-71 win. Both South Adams teams are undefeated.
Alex Fox won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly for the Starfire girls, Kara DeLong took the 50 and 500 freestyle events and Erika Waugh was first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. Michaela Rupp took the 100 breaststroke.
Caleb Wurster was the lone double winner for the boys, taking the 100 and 200 freestyle events. Cole Farlow won the 50 freestyle, and Mitchel Kaverman won the 100 breaststroke.[[In-content Ad]]
