SAHS beats Tigers
South Adams roundup
BLUFFTON - Starfire runners swept the top three spots Tuesday in victories over the Bluffton Tigers.
The South Adams High School girls rolled to a 16-39 win while the boys topped the Tigers 19-41.
Sawyer Shane stepped into the top spot in the girls race as the top three runners ran nearly side-by-side. She finished in 23 minutes, 41 seconds while Hannah Moore placed second with an identical time and Kristen Muselman placed third in 23:42.
Jenna Smith placed fourth in 23:54, and Adrianna Teeter was sixth in 24:10.
Evan Liechty's time of 17:48 was best in the boys race by a minute over teammate Joel Hawbaker. Sam Heckard was third in 18:53 ahead of Andrew Steffen (fifth - 19:30) and Brett Affolder (eighth - 20:28).
Allison Amstutz won the junior high girls race in 13:52 to lead the Starfire girls to a 24-32 win. Brody Shane and Ryan Ford went one-two in the boys race in 10:39 and 11:57 as SAMS won 25-32.
Spikers stumble
BERNE - The Garrett Railroaders handed the South Adams volleyball team a 25-15, 26-24, 25-23 loss Tuesday.
South Adams also lost the junior varsity match 25-22, 22-25, 15-4 and the freshman team fell 25-19, 25-24.[[In-content Ad]]
