SAHS blanks Raiders

Local roundup

PONETO — After a two-day, 12-inning marathon, the Starfires were more than happy to go home early Thursday.
The South Adams High School baseball team finished off the host Southern Wells Raiders in five innings, walking away with a 10-0 victory. The Starfires had finished a 12-inning win Wednesday against Garrett in a game that started Tuesday before being suspended because of darkness.
Corey Seffernick, who delivered the game-winning hit against Garrett, led the offense for the Starfires with a home run, two singles, three RBIs, three runs and a stolen base. Blake Fox and Collin Affolder also had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.
Fox shut out the Raiders on two hits while striking out three batters.

Errors crush Tribe
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s baseball team struggled at the plate and committed six errors Thursday in a 4-0 loss to the Parkway Panthers.
The errors led to four unearned runs for Parkway (8-8, 2-2 Midwest Athletic Conference), all of which were scored in the third inning.
Jackson Hobbs took the hard-luck loss for the Indians despite allowing only four hits in seven innings. He finished with eight strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
