MARION — South Adams High School’s boys swim team picked up a double win Thursday, scoring 149 points to defeat Fort Wayne South Side (101) and the host Marion Giants (64).
Caleb Wurster turned in the Starfires’ first individual win of the night, taking the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.75, and Jacob Werst followed with a time of 2:28.26 to take the 200 individual medley. Johnny Everidge was first in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.7, Cory Sank won the 500 freestyle at 5:44.13, and Joel Schmidt was first in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.64.
South Adams also won all three relays as it improved to 12-4 on the season. South Side earned victories in the other four individual events as if finished in second place.

SA edges Chiefs
The South Adams Junior High wrestling team edged East Jay 48-45 Thursday. Also, the West Jay squad fell 43-18 at home to Adams Central.
Braxton Cole, Keegon Boxwell, Matt Nussbaum, Ryan Ford, Sawyer Miller, Boaz Marbach, Gage Conner, David All, Brock Twitty and Mason Morningstar all picked up victories for the Starfires. SAMS won eight of the 13 contested matches, but also gave up 18 points on forfeits.

Colton Compton (80), Levi Hummel (135), Kaleb Toland (145) and Hunter Gillette (152) all won by pin for the Chiefs. Alex Abbott (100) added a victory by decision.
Victories for West Jay  all came by pin in the first period from Brandon Hollingsworth (175), Jon Blankenship (185) and Mitch Bennett (HWT).

Jay places fourth
OSSIAN — James Keen picked up the only victories for the Jay County middle school swim team Thursday as it placed fourth out of seven teams and the Norwell Invitational.
Keen won the 100-yard freestyle in a team-record time of 57.65 seconds. He broke the previous mark of 59.1 set by Brad Fisher in 1998.
He was also first in the 50 freestyle.[[In-content Ad]]
