SAHS edges Braves
South Adams roundup
BERNE — Mark Muselman pulled out a three-set victory Thursday to lead the South Adams High School boys tennis team to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Blackhawk Christian Braves.
Muselman rolled through his first set and then dropped the second before rallying for a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Jake Fielder at No. 3 singles.
The other two Starfire wins came in doubles action, where Reid Zurcher and Ian Frank won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot and Kegan Sprunger and Derek Schwartz combined for a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Alex Huber lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and Scott Hoeppner fell 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
South Adams rolled to a 4-1 win in JV action with victories from J.D. Tarr, Braydon Myers and the teams of Jon Steffen and Landon Lehman, and William Hicks and Dylan Pierce.
Golfers fall
HARTFORD CITY — The Starfires finished behind the Winchester Golden Falcons (199) and host Blackford Bruins (202) with a score of 236 in their three-team event Thursday at Blackford Country Club.
Kristen Lehman led South Adams with a 53 while both Blackford and Winchester had golfers shoot in the 40s. Kristal All followed Lehman with a 56.
Abbie Fisher shot 61, Sam Schwartz finished at 66 and Adrienne Pursley carded a 67.
Volleyball loses
BLUFFTON — South Adams took the second game only to fall 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20 to the Bluffton Tigers.
Taylor Farlow totaled 17 digs and eight kills for the Starfires, who dropped to 2-11 with the defeat. Kara Delong had 12 digs and five kills, and Chelsea Bollenbacher added 12 kills, three blocks and three aces.
SAHS dropped the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-19. Jody Potts had six kills, and Hannah Mitchel and Molly Page each notched four digs.

BERNE — The Starfire girls soccer team dropped a 10-1 decision Thursday to the visiting Norwell Knights.
