SAHS edges Lions

BERNE — Thanks to a three-set win at No. 3 singles, the South Adams High School boys tennis team eked out a 3-2 victory over the visiting Leo Lions.
Scott Hoeppner dominated the third set of his No. 3 singles match against Nick San Giucomo to give the Starfires (7-2) the victory. After dropping the second set, he rallied for a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 victory.
Alex Huber added a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Ian Frank and Reid Zurcher won 6-0, 6-1. Mark Muselman lost 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and the team of Kegan Sprunger and Derek Schwartz fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
South Adams won the junior varsity match 3-1 with victories from Jonathan Steffen, Brayden Myers and the team of Landon Lehman and Jared Rife.

SA golfers split
FORT WAYNE — South Adams’s girls golf team finished in the middle of a three-team meet Thursday at Cedar Creek Golf Club. The Starfires scored a 233 to finish behind Leo (182) and in front of Southern Wells (59).
Kristen Lehman had one par and three bogeys as she led SAHS with a 48. Abbie Fisher also had a par in her round of 56.

Star spikers fall
BERNE — The Norwell Knights rolled through all three games Thursday as they handed the South Adams volleyball team a 25-13, 25-13, 25-11 defeat.
Taylor Farlow had 10 digs and seven kills for the Starfires.
SAHS also dropped the junior varsity match 25-13, 24-25, 15-9 and the C-team match 25-22, 25-16.[[In-content Ad]]
