SAHS splits pair (02/19/07)

Basketball roundup

South Adams nearly walked away with a pair of road victories this weekend, but fell just short Saturday night.

The Starfires boys basketball team fell 57-55 to the Norwell Knights in Ossian, just 24 hours after leaving Monroe with a 63-57 victory over the Adams Central Jets. Friday's win was the fifth in six games for SAHS, which is now 9-8 on the season.

Norwell had a slight upper hand at every stop Saturday, leading the Starfires by one after the first and second quarters and 42-40 at the end of the third.

Jordan Steiner scored 12 of his team-high 15 points for South Adams in the first half. Ethan Sharp followed with 10 second-half points, nine of which came on three fourth-quarter 3-pointers.

Friday night's game was also tight, with the Starfires trailing by one after the first quarter before grabbing a 24-22 advantage at the half.

Jordan Sharp racked up 11 of his game-best 23 points in the fourth quarter, and Steiner went 9-of-10 from the line in the final period as he scored 11 points.

Andrew Caffee added nine points.
