Dismissing early
Jay School Corporation students will be dismissed early on Thursday for a staff development day.
Elementary students will be dismissed between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m., according to their individual building dismissal times. The middle school will be dismissed between 12:30 and 12:40 p.m., and high school students will be dismissed at 12:43 p.m. Students will be served lunch before they are dismissed.

A vehicle driven by a Portland woman received damage estimated at less than $1,000 Friday when it struck a stop sign pole in the parking lot of a local business.
Melissa D. Skirvin, 32, 722 S. Shank St., told Portland police that she was driving in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 650 W. Votaw St., Portland. As she began to turn left to park , she failed to see a stop sign. Her front bumper and quarter panel struck the sign's pole.
The accident occurred at 9:08 a.m. The 1998 Pontiac Transport also is registered to Matthew Cox, same address as driver.[[In-content Ad]]
