Frank Holler
Frank W. Holler, 94, a former resident of South Whitley, died Friday morning at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
He is the father of a Portland resident. Holler had been a resident at The Heritage in Huntington since January of 2001.
Born July 2, 1909 in Whitley County, he was the son of Verde and Mae (Stallsmith) Holler. He graduated from Washington Center High School and was married on Sept. 30, 1930 to Sarah C. Holler.
Holler was employed at Grip-Nut in Chicago before beginning his employment with Nickle Plate Railroad, where he retired in 1972 after more than 42 years of service.
He was a member of Eberhard Lutheran Church and served on the church council and was a Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are two sons, including Roger Holler of Portland; two daughters; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with the Rev. Alice Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in South Whitley Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Eberhard Lutheran Church.
Donald Temple
Donald Eugene Temple, 66, 316 N. Stateline St., Union City, Ohio died Friday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was the father of a Portland resident.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio as the son of Jacob and Ethel Foruman Temple.
Temple worked at Westinghouse Corporation for 12 years. He also worked at Sipe’s Shell Station, Missisinewa Valley School and was the owner and operator of Don’s Bike Shop in Union City.
He was a member of New Lisbon Christian Church in Union City.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, including Larry Temple, Portland; one daughter; a brother; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will take place on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. in the New Lisbon Christian Church in Union City.
Burial will be in the New Lisbon Cemetery. The Rev. Thom Albin will preside.
Visitation is Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. and again from 6 until 8 p.m. at Reichard Funeral Home in Union City.
