COUNTY ACCIDENT
A pick-up truck driven by a Fort Recovery woman overturned after she went off of the road in Wayne Township on Thursday at 12:05 a.m.
Samantha D. Bruggeman, 37, 121 Pine Road, was driving north on county road 400 East, about 2,500 feet north of county road 300 South, when a deer came onto the road. She told police that she swerved to avoid striking the deer and went off of the road. The 2001 Dodge Ram, registered to Timothy Bruggeman, same address as driver, overturned in the ditch.
Damage to the truck was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
THEFTS
A Portland man reported to Portland police on Friday that a bicycle was stolen out of his garage.
Aaron Frazier, 509 W. High St., told police that a boy’s mountain bicycle was stolen out of his garage sometime between 6 p.m. Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Friday.
A value for the bicycle was not provided by police.
The theft of several items from a Portland man’s car was reported to Portland police on Thursday.
William Enyart, 441 W. Seventh St., told police that several coins, a small flashlight and a other items were stolen sometime last week from a vehicle parked at his home.
No value was provided for the stolen items.
CITY ACCIDENT
A car registered to a rural Hartford City man was struck sometime Friday afternoon while it was parked in the parking lot of Jay County Hospital.
A 1997 Ford Mustang, registered to Brian E. Blevins, 2463 South 400 West, was struck on the front passenger side while the car was parked in the hospital’s parking lot for approximately two hours.
