Canceled

Due to cold conditions, there will be no recycling trailer in the parking lot of LoBill Foods in Portland this morning.

The trailer, provided by the Jay County Solid Waste District, was scheduled to be staffed by Cub Scout Pack 3202.

The district’s normal recycling schedule will resume next week.

Sentenced

Two Dunkirk residents were sentenced on Jan. 21 in Jay Circuit Court for felony drug charges.

Ricky Newsome, 23, was sentenced for a possession of marijuana, a class D felony, to two years in the Jay County Jail with all but four months suspended.

He was placed on probation for four months, fined $1,000 and ordered to pay $134 in court costs.

Charges of dealing in marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of a controlled substance were dismissed.

Delilah Newsome, 25, was sentenced to one and a half years in the Jay County Jail with all but 60 days suspended for a possession of marijuana, a class D felony.

She was placed on probation for 60 days and ordered to pay $134 in court costs.

Charges of dealing in marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of a controlled substance were dismissed.

The couple was arrested on May 21, 2003 by Dunkirk police for dealing and possessing marijuana in their Dunkirk home and possession Hydrocodone.

The Redkey Park Board invites area residents to take part in creating a five-year plan for park improvements at the Feb. 14 meeting at 9 a.m.

Ideas for the Redkey Park Cabin will also be discussed.

Portland City Council is scheduled to discuss parking on Pleasant Street at its Monday meeting.

Council members will meet at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the Portland Fire Station, 1616 N. Franklin St.
