Denied

A Dunkirk woman's request to have her bond reduced was recently denied in Jay Circuit Court.

Barbara Wilburn, 38, is facing a charge of forgery, a class C felony. Her request was denied Tuesday.

Jay County police arrested her on a warrant on May 31. In September of 2006, she allegedly stole her sister's check, forged her signature on it and used it to pay for items at a Pak-A-Sak.

Bond reduced

A Marion man's bond recently was reduced in Jay Circuit Court.

The bond of Carl Reismiller, 46, was reduced May 30 to $5,000 from $10,000.

He was arrested May 23 on a bench warrant for allegedly failing to appear for a hearing to on revocation of a suspended sentence.

He was sentenced June 28, 1995, on a charge of burglary, a class C felony. Reismiller was sentenced to eight years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with one year suspended.

Sentenced for nonsupport

A Portland man recently was sentenced in Jay Superior Court on a charge of nonsupport of a dependent child, a class D felony.

Rodney L. Sutton, 41, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced June 3 to three years in the Jay County Jail, with all but 180 days suspended. The remainder of his sentence will be served on electronically monitored home detention.

He was ordered to pay $160 in court costs and $12,277 in restitution to Julie Morgan. He was placed on probation for three years.

As of June 29, 2007, he failed to pay $9,205 in child support.

Pleads to driving

A Portland man recently pleaded guilty in Jay Superior Court to two felony charges.

Jerry D. Stone, 41, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle as a habitual traffic offender and resisting law enforcement, both class D felonies. He is set to be sentenced June 24 at 10 a.m.

On Jan. 16, a police officer saw Stone at Murphy Oil gas station at Wal-Mart. Police checked the status of his driver's license and discovered that his license was suspended for 10 years.

After he left the gas station, police attempted to pull him over on Ind. 67, and he fled at a high rate of speed.

He eventually turned onto county road 400 South, then drove into a cornfield. He then got out of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area, where he was captured by police.

Sentenced for DWI

A Richmond woman was sentenced May 27 in Jay Superior Court on a charge of driving while intoxicated endangering a person, a class D felony.

Stacey N. Gabbard, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to one year in the Jay County Jail, with all but 30 days suspended and six days credit for time served.

She was ordered to pay $160.50 in court costs, a $200 alcohol and drug countermeasures fee and a $400 Jay Superior Court Substance Abuse Program fee. She was placed on probation for eight months and her driver's license was suspended for 90 days.

Charges of driving while intoxicated endangering a person and driving with an alcohol concentration equivalent of .08 or more were dismissed.

She was arrested Jan. 13 by Portland police after she was pulled over for having no taillights and weaving back in forth. She was intoxicated and had her children in the car with her.[[In-content Ad]]
